Roll Die’s

Sub-albums in this section contain photos of Colt roll dies that were sold on Ebay on 13 May 2020. These roll dies became available from a former Colt executives estate. These roll dies were used to make roll marks on the lower receivers of various Colt rifles. Roll dies started to become replaced by laser engraving at Colt sometime around the October – December 2019 time frame. The exact time frame isn’t exactly known. Rifles with laser engraved lower receivers started appearing around this time.

Roll mark dies wear out over time and have to be replaced. The used/worn out dies would often end up in the hands of employees and collectors who had friends at the Colt factory. Roll mark dies rarely come up for sale and when they do, they are highly sought after and usually bring pretty good money.

  • Colt AR-15 roll die- $1,278.00
  • Colt M16A1 roll die- $770.00
  • Colt AR-15 Property of U.S. Government roll die- $1,302.77
  • Colt AR-15/M-16 lower receiver manufacturer/selector roll die- $1142.77
  • Colt ‘Rampant Colt’ roll die- $535.00

Total cash value of all six sales is $6,553.56.
