Here we are on the 5th of May! Happy Cinco de Mayo to those of you who celebrate the holiday! If you were a follower of this website, I bet you wondered if this was still a thing or if I had bailed on you! Well, the website is still here and I’m still here. 2024 has been anything but ‘normal’ for me. What is ‘normal’ anyway?
To learn what has been going on with me in 2024, continue reading. Some of you know that I retired from the U.S. Army in May of 2020. I started a part-time job in August of 2022 and had only been working about 25 to 30 hours a week through the beginning of January of this year, 2024. Completely unexpectedly and out of left field, I ended up becoming a full-time, salary employee on January 15th. That is a great thing on one hand, and a bad thing on the other hand. The upside, I have a full-time job doing something I wanted to do. The downside is, I have worked almost every day since January 15th with the exception of Good Friday, Easter and today, 5 May 2024.
Since becoming employed full-time in January, I have had almost zero spare time available after I meet family requirements, etc. My workdays have been 10-to-14-hour days. Those of you who follow me on Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/the_colt_ar15_resource/ have seen me post there periodically. The great thing about Instagram is that you can post something in just a matter of a few minutes. Getting out the laptop and creating content in WordPress takes longer unfortunately. However, my heart truly is here and I want to continue building the site and adding content. There isn’t a resource for a Colt AR collector anywhere else on the web.
So, with the desire in my heart to still come here and build this resource, I am back. My job is leveling out and I’m forcing myself to not work as much as I have been. My goal going forward is to do some type of post and/or work here on the site on Saturday or Sunday each week. If the opportunity presents itself, I will do some work during the week as well.
During my time away from here, I also started a YouTube channel. My goal with the YouTube channel is to give Colt AR fans the ability to see things in a platform that isn’t just flat images. Video’s give you a different perspective on things that you just don’t get from photos or page scans. I’m not doing anything fancy. I don’t detailed scripts. I don’t do fancy editing. I don’t have time for that. My content is very basic and done “on the fly” using my cell phone camera. You can see my YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@thecoltar15resource
In the product space, there has been a few interesting developments over the last 6 months. I will discuss those activities in coming posts. If you read this far, thanks for stopping by. More to come very soon!
