Here is a “whats in the box” look at the new Colt 4×20 carry handle optic that I posted about yesterday.

The new production ‘Retro’ 4x optic from Colt’s Manufacturing Company LLC and Brownells, Inc.

The production quality is great and the glass is crystal clear. Highly recommended for someone who wants the iconic retro look of the Colt carry handle optic but doesn’t want to pay collector prices for an original.

Just released at Brownells…Colt retro 4x carry handle optic.
“We actually tracked down the original company that manufactured the Colt® AR-15 optics of the 1970s and asked them to build a new one for us as close to the original as possible – right down the yellow inspection stickers. The Retro 4x Optic has updated technology under the hood, with modern lenses and construction. The result is a scope that looks just like the original but has optical clarity and performance that are head and shoulders above it.
Attaches to any standard AR-15/M16 carry handle
Fully Multicoated lenses are fog and waterproof
BDC click-adjustable elevation turret
Manufactured in Japan with high quality internals and lenses

The Retro 4x carry handle optic sports a simple, intuitive fine duplex reticle, like the original, and an elevation turret with BDC (ballistic drop compensated) clicks that closely match modern .223/5.56 55gr and 62gr ammo. As its name indicates, the Retro 4x comes with an integral carry handle mount that easily attaches to most AR-15 carry handles.”

My friend Alex and I are set up at the 43rd annual Colt Collectors Association show at the Embassy Suites in Scottsdale, AZ. We are here Friday, Saturday and Sunday October 6-8, 2023.
Come by and see us if you are in the area. Its an opportunity to see and handle some rare Colt rifles, carbines and upper receiver assemblies. In addition to rare out of production items, I have two of the hottest current production products which are the LE6920SOCOM and the M5 carbine.
We are happy to answer any questions that you may have or just talk about Colt AR products.
One of my personal motto’s is “Always reading, always learning.” The basis for the saying comes from my belief that if you are continuously reading, you are continuously learning. This is especially important when you work in a technical field.
In the spirit of my motto, I recently discovered “Armax, The Journal Of Contemporary Arms.” and subscribed to it. What attracted me to Armax was its scholarly approach to firearms. Most firearms publications these days are nothing more than paid advertising pieces with little objectivity.
I was also interested in Armax due to my interest in doing some firearms writing myself. This publication will give me the opportunity to see the work, and learn from the work, of many notable people in the firearms community.

I recently received my first edition of Armax. The size format of the publication is 6-inches wide by 9-inches tall. This issue has 105 pages text, color photos, technical line drawings, etc. The page material is a heavy paper that borderlines on light cardstock type material. The great thing about the page material is that it will make the publication durable to constant page flipping and reference use.

One article of significant interest to me in this issue begins on page 21 and is titled “Kiwi Steel: Modern Rifles of the New Zealand Defense Force”

If you have an interest in reading quality, historical firearm history and technical information, I highly recommend considering purchasing Armax.
I’ve been on the road alot for work the last several weeks. However, the first week of October, a fellow collector and I will have a joint Colt AR display at the Colt Collectors Association Convention in Scottsdale, AZ. Stop by and see us if you are in the area.

Through an auction on Ebay, I found these two items that document a tritium night sight set that was apparently offered by Colt. The large Installation instructions/training guide and the pocket user guide are both dated 1992.
You can see all of the pages of the installation instructions and training guide and the user guide at this link: https://thecoltar15resource.com/colt-tritium-night-sight/
I have posted a page that covers the Colt Manual No. CM213 for the installation of the Colt 40mm M203 grenade launcher on the Swedish AK5 rifle.
