Some Fun Going Into The Weekend

Just to get a chuckle and start the weekend off on a light-hearted note, I did this quick layout tonight with a hilarious book that I recently bought.

The Colt CR6920 and firearm safety. Every gun owner should teach all members of their household about responsible, safe gun ownership.

I had a great time at the armorers course. Information on that will be posted soon. While I was gone, delivery services were busy bringing stuff. I have so much to post.

Have a great weekend! More posts are on the way!

Colt M16/M4 Armorers Cours3

On the road for a few days attending the Colt M4/M16 Armorers Course. I am hoping to do a few posts highlighting the course.

Traveling today. Class is Monday through Wednesday. I have been trying to attend this course for about 3 years. Various cancelations and Covid got in the way. I want to say a special ‘Thank You’ to Aaron Sedberry for making this possible.

Colt Match Target Competition HBAR at the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, MO.

Traveling with the family for a couple of days. Photographed this Colt Match Target Competition HBAR with my phone at the NRA museum at Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, MO today.

Lighting in the museum space is pretty inadequate and flash photography is not allowed.

Colt/Walther .22LR M16 SPR Rifle

German firearms manufacturer Walther Arms is licensed by Colt to produce a series of Colt reproduction M16/M4 Carbine rifles and carbines in .22lr.

I recently got very lucky and was able to pick up one of the more rare variants, the M16 SPR, on Gun Broker for a very reasonable price of $665.

The M16 SPR version normally sells in the $850 to $1000 range is pretty spendy for a .22LR replica.

So, here are a few quick peeks at what is in the box. I will add more images and a video to the website soon.

Mail Call Tuesday 1 March 2022

Mail Call today was a @trijicon military contract over-run TA-11D ACOG bought on sale from @_eurooptic_ to finish my Colt IAR clone.

This setup consists of a Colt IAR upper receiver, Colt LE6920 lower receiver with the sling, stock and Grip Pod spec’d from the @smallarmssolutions article done many years ago on the Colt IAR program.

I have used the Grip Pods operationally and do not like them. However, I have one on this IAR because they appeared consistently in Colt promotional material and was a Colt basic issue item for some contracts.

I thought it was interesting that the mount was a Bobro product that is Trijicon branded.

Colt Sub-Machine Gun Family…Gun World May 1993

I apologize for so many Colt AR ‘historical’ articles lately. This should be the last one for a while.

This magazine has an article in it that discusses the Colt Model 635 and the three configurations that were available at the time of the article.

Models discussed in the article are the Colt Model 633 (more commonly known as the DOE carbine), Model 635 and Model 635 with suppressor.

Colt Branded A.R.M.S. #5 Multi-Base Mount

A Colt branded A.R.M.S. #5 multi-base mount came in the mail today.

I do not have a solid understanding about the marketing of the Colt branded A.R.M.S. #5 multi-base mount. I know that a couple of AR variants had them as included accessories, but I do not know if they were ever marketed as an individual accessory for retail sale.

From A.R.M.S. website “The #05™ Multi-base is a Quick detachable, multiple eye relief mounting base that attaches to weaver type rail and flat-top receivers. The multi-base is compatible with both weaver style rings and NATO STANAG mounts. It raises your sight platform 3/4″ and features a spring-loaded clamping bar and self-locking captivated thumbnuts for solid, zero movement mounting to your existing rail. The #05™ multi-base also features a see-through channel for use with iron sights”

Weight – 5.2 oz
Length: Approx. 5″
Height: Approx. 3/4″

The A.R.M.S. #5 Multi-Base Mount is out of production and has been replaced by the A.R.M.S. #63 mount with dual throw-levers.

Parts Refurbishing

Although a vast majority of my Colt collecting involves new or like new and complete items, I like to buy used items periodically when I get an opportunity.

Any used items that I buy get inspected for function, correct part content and gets cleaned/oiled/greased as applicable.

This carbine buttstock is an example. It came with a small group of carbine lower receiver parts. It will get the adhesive labels removed, the GG&G sling swivel removed (it will go on Ebay) and will get cleaned up.

This buttstock is also missing the sling swivel and retaining screw so those parts will get ordered. The refurbished/corrected carbine buttstock assembly then goes into my parts inventory.
